Catch-22 again

Post by Simon Smith » Sat Mar 01, 2003 9:43 pm

Can I too express my dislike for
a web forum as the prime means for
support. This forum really sucks on
ArcWeb, which is my fallback
browser on the RISC PC. And of
course I can't download from the
Iyonix with Oregano 2. Why am I
being made to jump through so many
hoops to get the bleeding software?
Also I find on ArcWeb that when I
try to download, it tells me I'm
not logged in and the download
doesn't start. So I'm stuck with no
means to obtain the software I
need. Again.

I mean, what could be more
inconsiderate than to ship a
computer with a crippled web
browser and then insisting on the
users performing all updates via
the web? And now Aemulor are
making their product available via
a web-only route when the web
browser problem still hasn't been
sorted! Gah! [BTW I'm just about to
check the updates again, so maybe I
will have to withdraw that last
statement. But I have to unplug the
Iyonix and move it between rooms so
I only do updates occasionally.]

Web update

Simon,

Sorry to hear you are having problems obtaining the software.

We recently added an "email me" option to the download page, for those who are using Oregano2 which currently cant save out any files from a browser window.

Whilst I appreciate the inconvenience of this, you really cant blame us for deficiencies in Organo2 or Arcweb.

The demo version is free - and thus internet/email is the best way of distributing it. We also had discs available at the SouthWest show, and the same will be happening at Wakefield. The full version will also be available from a number of RISC OS dealers if you dont wish to purchase online.

We have also added an email support mailing list for those who do not wish to use these forums. To be fair, retaining support for ancient browsers such as ArcWeb is not high on our priorities.

If you only knew how many hoops we have to jump through to get any 26-bit applications running on Iyonix!

Regards

Neil.

No indeed. And now that you are providing an alternative means of obtaining the software, I have no further complaints. Thanks for addressing the issue so promptly.
